Think Trains!,' police warn after 11-year-old barely escapes collision in Mount Prospect MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. — Police in Mount Prospect are cautioning locals after an 11-year-old boy narrowly escaped being struck by a Metra train on Tuesday. According to police, the boy was riding his bicycle in the area of Union Pacific Railroad Crossing at Emerson Street near Prospect Avenue as train gates were down. U.S. Highway 290 in Elgin. Officers initially responded to the shots fired call around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday.While at the scene, EPD obtained surveillance footage of the parking lot where the shooting occurred. City of Kyle to honor Vietnam veterans KYLE, Texas (KXAN) – To honor Texas veterans of the Vietnam War who died after returning to the United States, the City of Kyle will host "The Wall That Heals" exhibit from May 4 through 7 at Lake Kyle Park. The In Memory program, founded by Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), will feature an honor roll display at The Wall That Heals and feature names and photos of the veterans. “We want to honor as many Vietnam Veterans from Hays County as possible,” said American Veterans Post 115 Commander Kerman Hammond. “If your loved one served in Vietnam, returned home and later died – we want to be able to proudly display their name and photo in our community." (WTEN) -- Now that the Native American school mascot ban has been made official by the Board of Regents, over 100 schools across New York will need to change their school mascots or team name.
