MISSOURI — A man from Lebanon, Missouri is breaking records after he floated the Missouri River in a giant pumpkin.Steve Kueny traveled 39 miles in a 1,200-pound gourd to break the previous record of 38 miles."It was just something that seemed doable," Kueny said. "So I thought I'd give it a shot." $8 million in state funds headed for the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge Kueny says he had an idea the float was going to be successful within the first five minutes."Once we got underway, we got out of the city, passed the bridges and some of the more active barges," Kueny said. A minor earthquake rattled Los Angeles' San Gabriel Valley Wednesday morning.The quake, a magnitude 2.9, struck at 8:35 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey.The epicenter was just north of the 10 Freeway in the area of San Gabriel, Rosemead and Alhambra, at a depth of approximately 5.5 miles.KTLA viewer Jack Witte in Alhambra described the quake as a "strong jolt." The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for a man who was driving an allegedly stolen pickup truck and eventually escaped police after a high-speed pursuit in downtown L.A.The truck, a white 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, was spotted near 5th and San Julien streets at 1:50 a.m. on Aug. 13, the LAPD said in a news release."The driver began to conduct evasive maneuvers to elude the officers by not stopping for red phase tri-lights and accelerating at a high-rate of speed," police said.Police pursued the driver through downtown, though he was "able to briefly elude the officers and abandoned the truck on the 600 block of Lebanon Street."By "hiding in plain sight at a local shopping center," the driver was able to escape. Two-Vehicle Collision near Gardendale Street Kills L.A.
