DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Protests aimed at pressuring nations to move decisively to stop climate change were expected to be their most intense yet on Saturday, a “Global Day of Action” with events at United Nations-led talks in Dubai and around the world.If activists needed any additional energy, they may have gotten it with reports that OPEC’s chief had urged its oil-producing members to reject any agreement that targets fossil fuels for a speedy phase-out. CHICAGO — Scott Eby, a man who was serving a life sentence for the murder of 3-year-old Riley Fox in 2004, has died, according to reports. The Chicago Tribune reports that Eby, who was 52 years old, died in prison on Thursday.Riley Fox was kidnapped from her home in June of 2004 and was later found dead in a creek in Wilmington. Charges filed against man accused of burglarizing 8 Chicago businesses Riley's father, Kevin Fox, was wrongly charged with the murder of his daughter and spent eight months in jail before he was exonerated. He died in a crash in Arkansas back in March. In 2010, Eby, a sex offender who was already serving time in prison, confessed to the rape and murder of the Wilmington toddler and was sentenced to life in prison. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court said it needs more time to weigh in on a lower court ruling which would have allowed a Dallas woman to get an emergency abortion, the Center for Reproductive Rights said in a news release.On Thursday, a Travis County judge issued a temporary restraining order on the state's abortion ban, which granted Kate Cox permission to seek the procedure.Cox learned she was pregnant for a third time in August, and doctors told her last week her baby was at a high risk for a condition known as Trisomy 18. ST. LOUIS - Friday was a monumental day for Americans battling a rare but painful disease. The Food and Drug Administration has approved two new gene therapies for patients with sickle cell disease. Studies show they are extremely effective, too.
