Minnesota lawmakers on Monday night elected four new members to the University of Minnesota system’s governing board, a body that sets policies and tuition at five campuses.Newly elected members of the UMN Board of Regents include a nurse union leader, a former health care company CEO and a West St. Paul city council member who works with the AFL-CIO.Interim board member Tadd Johnson, a former University of Minnesota Duluth graduate studies director, was elected to a full term. Johnson is the first Native American regent.The Board of Regents controls policy, curriculum, tuition and fees for the University of Minnesota’s campuses in Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester and the Twin Cities. It also manages all university lands.Each odd-numbered year, all 201 members of the state House and Senate come together to elect one-third of the 12-member board to a six-year unpaid term. AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Little Caesars, an international pizza chain, is coming to Amsterdam. The City of Amsterdam Planning Commission approved the site plans for 173 Market Street in an April 26 meeting. The site is 1,686 square feet and will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.Now, Little Caesars is in the process of cleaning up and renovating the building, which is a former KFC location. MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ill. - A blinding dust storm led to a deadly crash involving more than 70 vehicles along Interstate-55 in south central Illinois. Tuesday morning, I-55 has completely reopened 19 hours after shutting down.This all happened on I-55 in Montgomery County, north of Farmersville, and south of Divernon. Crews have been in the area non-stop since the crash took place. Authorities said at least six people were killed and 37 others taken to hospitals after the crash happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. A total of 72 vehicles were involved, including some 20 commercial vehicles and many passenger cars.We're told two tractor trailers exploded from the wreck.
