DENVER (KDVR) — While the Denver metro remains drought-free, the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows a 3.74% increase in drought or abnormally dry conditions across Colorado compared to last week. At the start of August, dry conditions were reported in southwestern Colorado. Just under 27% of Colorado reported abnormally dry conditions, with 4.58% of the state in moderate (D1) drought. Just three weeks later, drought concerns worsened in southwestern Colorado, with some areas in southern Colorado near Alamosa reaching severe drought. By the end of September, drought concerns continued to spread through southwest Colorado. The drought monitor released on Sept. 28 also revealed that parts of far eastern Colorado were falling to abnormally dry levels. The start of November revealed that while the I-25 corridor remains free of drought concerns, dry conditions continued to expand in both eastern and western Colorado. A South Florida woman came to check on her rental property to find a mess that wasn’t hers, and police said the reason behind it was an uninvited guest who was taken into custody. Shocking cellphone video footage captured the moments Miami-Dade Police officers confronted a man living inside a Kristina Santa’s vacant property in North Miami-Dade, turning a routine property check into a disturbing discovery. In the video, an officer can be heard instructing the man to “get on the ground, get on the [expletive] ground,” after police responded to a call from homeowner Kristina Santa.Speaking with 7News on Thursday, Santa said she grew suspicious after finding her rental property in disarray following a business trip earlier this week.“I didn’t do anything about it then; I was like maybe it was one of the workers or something at the house, because I have construction going on,” she said.Upon returning the next day, Santa said, she found door unlo...Jill Stein announces 2024 bid under Green Party line

(CNN) — Two-time Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein announced Thursday she plans to seek the party’s nomination for the White House in 2024.“The political system is broken. The two Wall Street parties are bought and paid for,” Stein said in a video posted on social media announcing her candidacy.“The Democrats have betrayed their promises for working people, youth and the climate again and again, while Republicans don’t even make such promises in the first place,” she said.Stein was the Green Party nominee for president in 2012 and 2016. Her 2016 candidacy drew the ire of Democrats, who blamed her for drawing traditionally Democratic voters away from their presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, in key swing states.Stein’s announcement comes amid growing questions about the strength of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. A recent CNN poll showed former President Donald Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination, na...Suspicious letters sent to election offices being investigated by federal law enforcement

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The mother of a University of New Hampshire student who died in an icy swamp two years ago filed a wrongful death lawsuit Thursday against the Durham bar and fraternity her son visited that night.Vincenzo Lirosi, 22, was found dead Dec. 5, 2021, partially submerged in a small body of water in the woods. An autopsy concluded the sophomore’s cause of death was drowning and acute intoxication.Robin Lirosi, of Whitman, Massachusetts, filed the lawsuit against Scorpion’s Bar & Grill, the UNH chapter of Sigma Chi and its national organization, and several individual members of the fraternity.“Scorpion’s, the frat, and the frat brothers have gone on with life as if nothing has changed, but Vinny’s family have been robbed of that luxury,” attorney Leah Cole Durst said in a statement. The lawsuit alleges the bar served Vincenzo Lirosi “in a matter that was so continuous and excessive” that it created a risk of death, and that the fraternity violated numerous...Rafael Devers wins second career Silver Slugger award

Rafael Devers may not have been personally satisfied with his 2023 performance, but he’s a Silver Slugger again nonetheless.Devers easily out-slugged the competition in his age-26 season. He led American League third basemen with 33 home runs, 100 RBI, a .500 slugging percentage, .851 OPS, and 67 extra-base hits. He also led all AL hitters with 252 hard-hit balls.“I would say it was just average,” he told the Boston Globe last month. “I know that I have so much more to give and more potential. If you take a look at the numbers, it was just an average season.”“Average,” by Devers’ standards, means leading the Red Sox in homers, RBI, and hits (157). He also showed more patience at the plate than in years past, drawing 62 walks, second only to Triston Casas (70), who was a Silver Slugger finalist, but lost to Yandy Díaz.Devers joins Wade Boggs as the only two players in franchise history to win multiple Silver Slugger awards at third base...Latest news
