Oakland: Man charged in fatal baseball-bat beating of unhoused victim OAKLAND — A man has been charged with murder in the fatal baseball bat beating of an unhoused man who was apparently attacked while he was sleeping in a Chinatown doorway, according to authorities and court records.The suspect, Reddick Mickle Jr., 46, of San Francisco, is on federal probation for a 2008 federal court drug conviction in Iowa, according to court records.He was charged Thursday in the April 26 killing of 69-year-old Ronard Spann. Diablo's north entrance closed until September for storm repair (BCN) -- State park officials said Wednesday that Mount Diablo's North Gate Road will be closed from Friday through mid-September to rebuild and stabilize a section of road damaged by storms this winter. The road will close to pedestrians, vehicles, equestrians and bicyclists. Visitors will still be able to access the summit and developed areas of the park from the South Gate entrance (2675 Mt.
