The San Francisco 49ers snapped their three-game losing streak on Sunday against the Jaguars in Jacksonville.Their embattled defense dominated the NFL’s hottest team, Brock Purdy directed an explosive-play offense, and the 49ers prevailed 34-3. The 49ers welcomed Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel back to the lineup today.“Losing four straight, a lot of people would have wanted to turn the panic lights on, or we could have our proverbial back against the wall,” left tackle Trent Wiliams said. “Winning on the road against a team that’s been rolling … it’s definitely what we needed.”Quarterback Brock Purdy did more than his part, throwing three touchdown passes among his 296 yards, and he went without a turnover for the first time in four games. The Jaguars (6-3) had won an NFL-best five in a row (and 11-of-13 regular-season games dating to last season) before getting completely overwhelmed and committing four turnovers.Next up is a home game Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before...Kurtenbach: Did we see the ‘real’ 49ers in Jacksonville? I think so

Three-game losing streak? What three-game losing streak? On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers looked like world-beaters again, blowing out a hot Jacksonville Jaguars team — in Florida, no less — by 31 points to move to 6-3 on the season. It was the kind of comprehensive, never-let-up performance we came to expect from the Niners in the early weeks of the season when the juggernauts opened with a 5-0 record. It was the kind of performance that looked fleeting as the Niners trudged into last weekend’s bye carrying that three-game losing streak. So, where does the truth lie with this team? Are the 49ers really the kind of team that blows out playoff-caliber teams like Dallas and Jacksonville, or was that three-game skid the accurate indicator of this squad’s quality? Here’s another way to put it: Can we trust these Niners?Related ArticlesSan Francisco 49ers | McCaffrey comes up short of TD despite 49ers’ best efforts San Francisco 49ers | 49ers Studs...49ers’ defenders explain how they flourished in ‘Sacksonville’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Just a quarter into their reunion, Nick Bosa and Chase Young did exactly what they hoped to rekindle from their Ohio State days: They met at the quarterback. That meant sandwiching the Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence for one of the 49ers’ five sacks in Sunday’s 34-3 win, and, better yet, it resulted in Bosa forcing a fumble that he recovered.“Having him is such a big threat. We play off of each other well,” Bosa said of Young. “Me and him are really excited to keep going.”This performance was bigger than that one play by two heralded pass rushers, all due respect to Bosa’s 1 ½ sacks in his best game of the year and Young’s debut after his Oct. 30 trade from Washington.A resounding theme in the postgame setting were how the 49ers’ defense played “complementary.” While a great pass rush can the best friend for a secondary, the same could be said in vice versa, and it was said.“The guys in the back end were disguising things and mixing it up,” defensive tackle Arik Armstea...Footage shows Santa Rosa high school student followed before fatal stabbing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers are Super Bowl contenders once again. All they needed was a three-game skid, a bye week and a cross-country trip to Jacksonville to get back on track.Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes, including a 66-yarder to George Kittle, and the Niners seemingly fixed all their woes with a 34-3 drubbing of the streaking Jaguars on Sunday.“We know who we are. We know what we’re capable of,” defensive tackle Arik Armstead said. “We have an extremely high standard for ourselves. Bigger than any people or any outside people can put on us.“We want to be great. We want to be dominant, and we want to play at a high level. And we know our team is going to need us to do that.”Deebo Samuel returned from a three-game absence and added a 23-yard scoring run for the 49ers (6-3), who stopped Jacksonville’s five-game winning streak and reestablished themselves as a favorite in the NFC.San Francisco dominated both lines of scrimmage and ...Caitlin Clark becomes Iowa’s all-time leader scorer as No. 3 Hawkeyes defeat Northern Iowa, 94-53

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Caitlin Clark became Iowa’s all-time career scoring leader and finished with the 12th triple-double of her career as the No. 3 Hawkeyes beat Northern Iowa 94-53 on Sunday.Clark had 24 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, joining Sabrina Ionescu as the only NCAA Division I players to record triple-doubles in four different seasons.Gabbie Marshall had 17 points and Hannah Stuelke added 16 for the Hawkeyes (3-0), who were coming off an 80-76 win over No. 8 Virginia Tech on Thursday night. The Hawkeyes could be No. 1 in the Associated Press poll on Monday, with the losses by No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Connecticut this week, but they didn’t want to think about that after this win.“We’ll see,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. “It really doesn’t matter if we are or not. It’s a long year. What are we this week? Three? That’s darn good too.”“I think it was a good (week), it gets you off on the right note,” Clark said. “But our group is mature enough ...Debate por las elecciones en Argentina entre Sergio Massa y Javier Milei, en vivo: noticias, reacciones y más

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Najee Harris stopped paying attention to the circumstances long ago. Maybe because they almost never change for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s going to get tight. It’s going to get late. And Pittsburgh is going to somehow find a way.Even when the Steelers are outgained — which is always, at least in 2023. Even when they’re out played — which is frequently. Even when the only place they regularly look like a team in playoff contention is the standings — which is essentially the story of the first half of a season that is somehow both chaotic and utterly predictable at the same time.Maybe that’s why Harris more or less shrugged after a 23-19 win over Green Bay on Sunday that had all the hallmarks of so many victories that have come before. A little offense. A couple of timely turnovers, and just enough of everything else to survive.“I’m just so used to (close games), I don’t even realize it,” Harris said after running for 82 yards an...Latest news
