HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - There have been hundreds of payroll errors for Hays County employees in the recent months. "We have identified 273 payroll corrections that are still pending after the May 15, 2023 payroll," said Hays County Auditor Marisol Villarreal-Alonzo. KXAN is waiting to hear back from the county if the 273 corrections have been made. Employees' frustrationSome employees brought their complaints to the attention of the Hays County Commissioners Court during the May 23 meeting. "The deposits to my retirement fund had not been made in over a month despite my contribution still being deducted," said one county employee. They said it feels like their money has gone missing. "My husband, who also works for Hays County, received a check that was noticeably less than usual. Authorities are investigating what appears to be a fatal shooting in the parking lot of an Amazon Fresh store in Westchester on Tuesday. Police responded to calls of a shooting in the 6800 block of La Cienega just after 4 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Footage from Sky5 showed a portion of the store’s parking lot cordoned off with a white canopy next to several parked cars. A man accused of assaulting five people in a bizarre, violent rampage in Long Beach was shot and wounded by police Tuesday, officials said.The incident was reported just before noon in the 4600 block of East 2nd Street near Livingston Park in an upscale community of the city, according to Long Beach Police.The suspect, described only as being 31 years old, allegedly punched a man and a woman in the 200 block of Park Avenue. The man walked into the park where he struck a man holding a 2-year-old child who fell during the attack, Cmdr. Michael Pennino explained during a news conference Tuesday afternoon. PETALUMA – A jury on Tuesday convicted a 29-year-old Concord man of the first-degree murder of a 19-year-old man at a Petaluma mall in 2019, according to prosecutors.David Kyle Lubkin faces up to 50 years to life in state prison when he is sentenced later this summer, the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.According to prosecutors, Lubkin met the victim, Ezequiel Garcia, at the Petaluma Outlets on Sept. 28, 2019, under the guise of purchasing a gold necklace off Craigslist. When Garcia drove up in his vehicle, Lubkin confronted him about another necklace he sold to him several days earlier, the district attorney’s office said.Lubkin pulled a gun from his waistband and fired three shots as Garcia drove away, according to prosecutors.
