PITTSBURGH (WTRF) — "There is no excuse for leaving your pets behind." That's what police said in a news release Thursday after a dog was found abandoned at Pittsburgh International Airport. Allegheny County police say they were alerted to a dog that was tied to a pole and appeared to be abandoned in the short-term parking garage."Officers responded and were able to untie the dog, which fortunately appears to be in good condition," police said in the release. The dog was not microchipped and police are actively investigating to determine who was responsible for leaving this dog behind.Police believe the man who had the dog at the airport was a ticketed passenger that spent time inside the airport before leaving the dog in the short-term parking garage prior to his flight. The reaction from Kirk Cousins got a lot of praise a few weeks ago.Not long after learning he had torn his Achilles tendon, television the cameras caught Cousins cheering on the Vikings as they tried to hold on for a win over the rival Green Bay Packers. It was a heartwarming moment from the 35-year-old quarterback amid a tragic situation. As much as he was projecting positivity in real time, Cousins admitted that negativity started to take over as he got carted off the playing surface at Lambeau Field. He looked at his surroundings and the thought crossed his mind. Was that the last time he would ever play in the NFL?Now, a few weeks later, Cousins has come to the conclusion that it’s not going to be. Talking to reporters for the first time since suffering the major injury, Cousins reiterated that he isn’t done playing in the NFL. He fully intends to make a comeback and emphasized that he’s excited to write the next chapter in his career.“There’s more t...Fabiola Santiago: Trump calls his foes ‘vermin’ and evokes another tyrant: To Fidel Castro, we were worms

MIAMI — Two days after his vulgar Hialeah, Florida, rally, an equally pumped ex-President Donald Trump railed against his political opponents in New Hampshire on Veterans Day.He called his political opponents on the left “vermin,” a word that echoed fascist Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany for millions of Americans, especially for World War II veterans, Holocaust survivors and Jewish families under the growing threat of antisemitism. But to me, and many of the 2 million Cuban exiles scattered around the United States, when Trump said his foes “live like vermin within the confines of our country,” he evoked another sinister character: Fidel Castro.I remember all that my family endured in Cuba during the years he was consolidating his regime, not as a running film of memories, but in scenes of intense clarity because they were frightening, alienating and cruel. If there’s anything that stands out in my childhood in Cuba, it’s being labeled a gusana ...Hundreds of Massachusetts hospital patients possibly exposed to HIV, hepatitis while undergoing endoscopy

Hundreds of Massachusetts hospital patients are on high alert after officials said they may have been exposed to hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV during a medical imaging procedure.Salem Hospital officials revealed on Wednesday that roughly 450 patients receiving an endoscopy between June 2021 and April 2023 were potentially exposed during the administration of IV medications “in a manner not consistent with our best practice.”An endoscopy is a medical imaging procedure in which doctors use a tube to look at internal organs.A statement from the hospital highlighting the development on Wednesday did not provide details on how the exposure may have occurred and how it was corrected. Officials remained mum about specifics on Thursday. After becoming aware of the issue earlier this year, officials said they fixed the practice and notified its quality and infection control teams.“Salem Hospital has notified all potentially impacted patients, set up a clinician-staffed hotline to answer qu...Tommies hoping to extend 30-game win streak at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, longest in college football

The St. Thomas Tommies last lost a football game at O’Shaughnessy Stadium on December 3, 2016. Their 30-game home winning streak is currently the longest in college football. To add perspective to how long it has been since that last loss, members of this year’s recruiting class were in fifth grade when the Tommies fell to Wisconsin-Oshkosh 34-32 in the Division III playoffs. The Tommies (7-3 overall, 6-1 Pioneer Football League) will honor 21 seniors on Saturday prior to their season finale against Valparaiso (3-7, 2-5) at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, 16 of whom will be playing their final game in a St. Thomas uniform. A victory will ensure that that will have played their entire collegiate career without losing at home.Through it all, St. Thomas coach Glenn Caruso said there has been no emphasis on winning at home over the years, something he regarded as “noise” that only interferes with preparing for the next opponent.“If we do our job, then it will take care of itself,” Caruso said. “We...Merged Hiway, Spire credit unions choose new name: Blaze Credit Union

Every U.S. legislator who currently opposes continuing aid to Ukraine should be forced to watch “20 Days in Mariupol,” a PBS “Frontline” documentary.Any American confused about why such aid is crucial for America’s security should watch it, too.The film is directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning Associated Press video journalist Mstyslav Chernov; he and an AP colleague were the last two Western journalists left in Mariupol after Russia invaded that port city in February 2022. They barely escaped after 20 days of filming Russia’s pulverization of the city, including direct bomb hits on hospitals. The Putin threatAs Americans fixate on video of Hamas’ butchery of more than 1,000 Israeli civilians and horrific scenes of Gazans dying from Israeli reprisals, it is easy to forget about Ukraine. But this harrowing film makes clear why Russian President Vladimir Putin is far more threatening to global security than Hamas.Directly responsible for slaughter...Advocates list demands at vigil for victims of traffic violence
