WASHINGTON (AP) — Biden administration officials hosted big city mayors at the White House on Thursday to discuss how to manage a growing number of migrants, one day after those leaders sent a letter asking for more federal help. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson met with White House chief of staff Jeff Zients and Homeland Security Department officials before heading to Capitol Hill for meetings with lawmakers. DENVER (KDVR) -- Thursday morning, a train stopped on the tracks in Commerce City where firefighters put out a fire in a locomotive.The South Adams County Fire Department responded to a call of a train stopped on the tracks near the intersection of Highway 2 and 104th Avenue near Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.SkyFOX was on the scene where footage showed the train smoking from the front car at 7:20 a.m.What originally appeared to be just smoke turned into a fire in the first car by 7:35 a.m. According to BNSF, which owns the train, it was carrying grain. DENVER (KDVR) -- Jefferson County Public Schools announced that there were "alarming" emails received Tuesday by staff members.According to the district's statement, the Information Technology team is working with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to investigate the credibility and scope of an attack. The district said there is no concern related to physical safety.Jeffco Public Schools Chief Information Officer Jill Ibeck shared precautionary measures the district employees were required to take, including updating all passwords and educating students about digital citizenship and the importance of strong passwords that are regularly changed. Detectives from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit arrested a Fort Lauderdale man in connection with an aggravated assault case.The arrest followed the release of surveillance video that shows an altercation involving Dwayne Fye, 59, at a Broward County business. The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 3, around 12:50 a.m., near the 2700 block of West Sunrise Boulevard.In the video, a subject, later identified as Fye, was seen wearing a green baseball hat, green shirt and black shorts. BSO said Fye entered the store, removed a beer from the refrigerator aisle and engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim. Firefighters were on scene in New Bedford Thursday afternoon battling a large fire in a multi-family home. SKY7-HD was over the scene on Welcome Street around 5:30 p.m., showing crews pouring water on the flames. The New Bedford Fire Department also shared a photo from ground level as their response continued. Mourning together, the family of a 31-year-old Whitman woman said they were in shock Thursday after learning their loved one is no longer with them. State police and the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said police found the body of Margaret Mbitu in a parking garage at Logan Airport around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, a little over a day after family members said they reported Mbitu missing. Fourty-year-old Kevin Kangethe of Lowell is now wanted in connection with Mbitu’s death, which officials said is being considered a homicide. “She was the most lovely, soft-spoken, beautiful, happy, go lucky kind of girl — the most friendly person we know,” said Mbitu’s cousin, Virginia Ndunga. “Obviously, we’re devastated,” Ndunga said. “We love her.”Mbitu was a nurse in Halifax.
