Trump-appointed judge Aileen Cannon assigned to his documents case

Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee who took the extraordinary step of appointing a special master in the Mar-a-Lago case, may initially oversee the case, according to reporting from multiple outlets.Cannon’s name appeared on the summons for Donald Trump’s Tuesday appearance, as did Judge Bruce Reinhart, who approved the warrant to search the former president’s Florida home, ABC News first reported Friday.Rulings from Cannon substantially slowed the Department of Justice's (DOJ) investigation into Trump, in one instance barring prosecutors from using the classified documents they seized from the home. She later appointed a special master in the case tasked with assessing whether documents aligned with Trump’s claims that documents might be covered by executive privilege — an argument the special master himself later expressed skepticism over. Cannon was twice overturned by a higher court, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, which both greenlit the DOJ’s us...PHOTOS: Highland police search for flower thief

DETROIT (AP) — Electric vehicles made by General Motors will be able to use much of Tesla's extensive charging network beginning early next year under an agreement the two companies announced Thursday. In addition, GM will adopt Tesla's connector, the plug that links an electric vehicle to a charging station.GM joins Ford in shifting its electric vehicles to work with about 12,000 of Tesla's roughly 17,000 chargers, and both Detroit automakers are pushing to make Tesla's connector the industry standard. GM CEO Mary Barra and her Tesla counterpart, Elon Musk, made the announcement during a Twitter Spaces conversation.(Getty Images file)Their discussion comes two weeks after Ford CEO Jim Farley joined Musk to announce that Ford's electric vehicles would gain access to much of Tesla's EV-charging network, the largest in the nation. The young safety getting reps with the starters during organized team activities might come as a surprise to some. It’s 2020 sixth-round draft pick Josh Metellus, not 2022 first-round pick Lewis Cine.Though a lot can change for the Vikings in training camp next month, as of right now, it appears Metellus is ahead of Cine in the pecking order behind starting safeties Harrison Smith and Cam Bynum.Maybe even more telling is how new defensive coordinator Brian Flores has been using Metellus over the past month. On any given play in practice, Kirk Cousins might take a snap and have to worry about Metellus lining up in centerfield as a safety, in the slot as a cornerback, or in the box as a linebacker. He quickly is becoming a jack of all trades for the Vikings defense.“I think a lot of it is Coach Flo’s trust in me to learn multiple spots,” Metellus said. “That’s really what it comes down to.”That trust is something Metellus has been working to ear...Vikings receiver Jalen Nailor (aka Speedy) on fast track to more playing time

The coach gave Jalen Nailor simple instructions. As soon as he hit the ball, he was to run as fast as he could. That’s exactly what Nailor did. He couldn’t have been much older than 5 at the time, yet he rounded the bases with ease for a home run. The ball barely left the infield. The legend grew when Nailor traded the baseball diamond for the football field. He was playing Pop Warner for the Lancaster Jets, about an hour north of Los Angeles, and was among the smallest kids on the team. That might have been an issue except that nobody could catch him.“He was the fastest kid out there,” his father Jay Nailor said. “That’s how he got the nickname Speedy.”That moniker has stuck with the 24-year-old receiver ever since. And for good reason. He has relied on his speed at every stop of his football career so far, using it to dominate in high school with Bishop Gorman, put up big numbers in college with Michigan State, and make a name for himself in...Stuyvesant Falls VFW to celebrate 75th anniversary
