For the second week in a row, one of the top players on the Colorado Avalanche went off during his postgame comments. This time, it was directed at some of his teammates.A visibly agitated Devon Toews did not hold back his feelings Tuesday night after the Avalanche lost 3-2 in Chicago to the NHL’s last-place team. Speaking to Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports, Toews used a variation of frustrated five times and self-awareness four times in an interview that lasted a little more than two minutes.“It’s self-awareness. We need guys that know how to play in our system, know how to play our game and know what it takes,” Toews told Montano. “We’ve got some guys in here … I think we’ve got some guys who think they’re playing well and they’re kidding themselves at this point.“It’s frustrating to play out there when you’ve got guys who think they’re playing well and they’re doing things where you have no idea what play they’re going to make or where they’re going...Remembering longtime KTLA producer Warren Hohmann

Published Sun, 01 Dec 2024 06:02:25 GMT
With mortgage rates rising for much of 2023, prospective home buyers in many U.S. cities watched as their dream homes faded further out of reach. However, in some cities house shoppers actually saw their buying power increase.A new study from online real estate marketplace Point2 looked at census data for the 100 largest U.S. cities to see how the average affordable home price changed from Nov. 2022 to Nov. 2023.When it comes to defining an "affordable" home, the study assumed a 20% down payment, a 30-year fixed mortgage and monthly payments less than 30% of income. Home sales in California drop to lowest level in 16 years After factoring in the different mortgage rates (7% in 2022 vs. 7.5% in November 2023), Point2 found that buying power increased in several high-priced real estate markets, thanks in part to income growth. In top-ranked Irvine, California, buyers can afford a $498,161 home in 2023, on average, up $53,051 from last year's figure. Margaritas Podridas at the Roxy: Mexico-based shoegaze/grunge/punk rockers Margaritas Podridas signed to Hopeless Records last month, and swiftly released the “Tortilla” single.“The quartet, fronted by Carolina Enriquez, has been steadily rising to punk rock stardom, grabbing attention left and right with their raucous anthems of rebellion and statement-making stage presence,” reads a recent press release. “The Hermosillo, Mexico-based quartet Margaritas Podridas was born out of admiration for the underground rock landscape of the ‘90s, culling from the distortion-laden songwriting of the grunge scene, the scuzz-coated pop of shoegaze, and the noisy sojourns of that decade’s college rock’s guitar icons.”“Sonics aside, there’s a political streak and DIY ethic in Margaritas Podridas that recalls the confrontational idealism of their musical forebearers, evidenced in their underage scene building efforts in their hometown, their negation of the English language despite their grow...Latest news
