OAKLAND — A retired Alameda County judge was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday after leaving an ATM in downtown Oakland, authorities said.The robbery happened about 5:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of Franklin Street. Authorities said she had just used a bank ATM and was walking to her car when a man with a gun confronted her and took her bag containing her phone, wallet and cash.The robber fled in a waiting vehicle and was last seen going northbound on Franklin Street at 20th Street. Police believe the same suspects were involved in another armed robbery of a man who had just made a deposit at a bank in the 2000 block of Franklin Street at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The hottest temperatures of the summer are about to arrive in the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. The warming trend will begin Thursday afternoon before really kicking into gear high Friday, the NWS said. Bay Area Heat AdvisoryA heat advisory goes into effect on Friday and will remain until Sunday. Temperatures will be especially high in the inland Bay Area and Central Coast. The heat will bring a moderate to high risk to those who are heat sensitive, the NWS said."We are going to be under an advisory starting at 11 a.m. Friday and going through Sunday evening," said KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan. A suspicious package was found on the steps of the Supreme Court Thursday, causing several road closures around the building before officials later gave an "all clear."U.S. Capitol Police had announced in a tweet that it was assisting the Supreme Court Police with the package and helping to keep the area clear “out of an abundance of caution.” It said in an alert that it is conducting an investigation into the package on the Unit Block of First Street Southeast Washington, D.C., on the court’s steps, and staff and other personnel should avoid the area until further notice. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — ConocoPhillips Alaska faces a potential $914,000 fine over what a state regulatory agency called a “shallow underground blowout” of a well that released natural gas at the company’s Alpine field on Alaska’s petroleum-rich North Slope last year. An investigation by the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission found the company violated several provisions of state law during missteps leading up to the leak and during the response, according to a proposed enforcement notice that was released Wednesday. The commission oversees oil and gas drilling in the state.ConocoPhillips is reviewing the commission’s findings, said Rebecca Boys, a company spokesperson.
