A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday on a highway off-ramp in Denver near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Interstate 225.The woman who died was a passenger in the vehicle, police said in a posting on Twitter. Sheriff’s deputies shot a man suspected of setting a vehicle on fire at his property in Grand Junction in western Colorado, and on Thursday a team of investigators was preparing to look into what happened, according to Grand Junction police.Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls that a man who lived in the 2900 block of Sandra Avenue started the fire around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, the police said in a news release. Firefighters came to put out the fire. When deputies tried to contact the man, “an officer-involved shooting occurred,” the police said.Firefighters took the man to a hospital. No information on his condition was released.The deputy has been placed on paid leave, police said.
