Associated PressATLANTA — Atlanta police have arrested a woman who’s accused of trying to burn down the birthplace of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta.Officers arrested the 26-year-old woman around 5:45 p.m. Thursday after responding to a report of vandalism in process at the two-story home in the historic Auburn Avenue Historic District, according to a police statement. Police say a preliminary investigation shows the woman had poured gasoline on the property before people at the site stopped her.“We believe at this time she was pouring gasoline on the porch and the door of the home. (KRON) – A group of five people stole an ATM from a CVS in San Francisco after driving a vehicle through the front door early Friday morning, according to the San Francisco Police Department. SFPD Richmond Station officers responded to the 300 block of 32nd Avenue to investigate a reported burglary at approximately 2:48 a.m. on Dec. 8. The seat representing Silicon Valley and San Mateo County has been held by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo for three decades. Eshoo announced she will retire in 2024 at the end of her term. (KRON) – A San Francisco resident with a felony warrant was arrested after allegedly stealing over $180 worth of merchandise from a business, the Colma Police Department announced Tuesday. At 9:35 p.m. on Nov. 27, Colma police officers were conducting a passing check of a shopping center in the 200 block of Colma Boulevard when they were flagged down by employees from a local business that a theft had just occurred. Regulators on Friday approved two gene therapies for sickle cell disease that doctors hope can cure the painful, inherited blood disorder that afflicts mostly Black people in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration said the one-time treatments can be used for patients 12 and older with severe forms of the disease.
