Attorney, longtime benefactor of Denver arts Lanny Martin dies at 77 J. Landis “Lanny” Martin, an attorney, businessman and well-known benefactor of the arts in Denver, has died. He was 77 when he died Friday after an illness.Martin and his wife, Sharon, made the largest standalone financial standalone gift in the Denver Art Museum’s history with their pledge in 2016 of $25 million to revitalize the museum’s north building, a seven-story tower that was designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti in 1971. The building was renamed the J. Landis and Sharon Martin Building.Lanny Martin was a museum trustee since 1994 and was chairman of the museum board from 2013 to 2022. Man killed after being pinned between his own car, out of control driver’s car  A man was killed as he was getting out of his car in Calabasas. According to reports from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal collision occurred near the 26400 block of Rondell Street in Calabasas at 2:38 p.m. Saturday afternoon. “Preliminary information indicates a vehicle entered the parking lot from Las Virgenes Road and accelerated uncontrollably, colliding with a parked vehicle,” LASD said in a release. “The victim, who was exiting his parked vehicle, was pinned between both vehicles.”  Video: Jewelry store employees fight would-be thief who bear sprayed them L.A. 2 injured after I-580 shooting, another vehicle struck by gunfire in Oakland (KRON) -- Two people were injured after a shooting on I-580 in Oakland Saturday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol. Around 4:03, officers responded to the shooting on the westbound lanes near Seminary Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they found an abandoned vehicle that had been hit by at least one bullet. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels catcher Max Stassi has announced he will miss the entire 2023 season because of a serious family medical issue.The Angels placed Stassi on the restricted list Sunday after he informed them of his decision. Stassi left the team during spring training to deal with the family medical issue and to recover from a hip injury.Stassi told the team he is capable of returning to baseball activities now, but he is choosing not to do so.
