"Between you and me, I think there were schools that were, hoping that this would come… because it becomes very tumultuous, and there’s a lot of anger that gets expressed between t...Boil water advisory issued in Brunswick

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - A plan to build a large apartment and retail complex near Creve Coeur Lake is under review, and community members have a few more days to offer feedback on it. The proposed apartment complex would be called "Maryland Park," consisting of some land formerly used by a privately-owned golf driving range. The City of Maryland Heights has requested the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies to review a building permit application on behalf of St. Louis-area developer KBG, Inc. A public notice from USACE reports the development would consist of 800 garden-style units and serve as a "mixed use, multifamily residential and service retail development." It labels the proposed location as "south of Creve Coeur Mill Road, north of Creve Coeur Lake, and west of Creve Coeur Creek." The Denver lawmaker sponsoring a proposed ban on the sale or purchase of assault weapons in Colorado floated a significant scaleback of the bill Wednesday morning — a move that acknowledged the uncertainty of an impending committee vote. But Rep. Elisabeth Epps said a failure to enact a ban would show that the state’s historic Democratic majorities aren’t serious about the policy. In a lengthy opening statement to the House Judiciary Committee, the Democratic lawmaker told her colleagues that she was contemplating an amendment that would limit the bill — HB23-1230 — to a ban on bump stocks. Those devices, which allow semi-automatic firearms to be fired continuously, were banned during the Trump administration, but a federal appellate court struck down the prohibition in January. While the U.S. Justice Department appeals that ruling and the ban remains in effect, Epps told the committee that a bump stock ban in Colorado would provide more assurance in the s...Hobbled Michael Conforto gives SF Giants desperately needed win vs. Marlins

MIAMI — Losers of five straight, held without a hit since the fourth inning, facing a long flight home after, the Giants needed this one.Nobody understood that better than Michael Conforto, who has frustratingly been forced to watch most of this disastrous road trip from the bench, limited to pinch-hitting duties only as he recovers from calf tightness. A hobbled Conforto delivered perhaps his biggest hit since signing with the Giants, slugging a tie-breaking two-run home run to center field in the 11th inning Wednesday, paving the way to a desperately needed 5-2 win over the Marlins.Mike Yastrzemski followed a few batters later with another two-run shot, his second in as many games, which proved to be critical insurance runs as Miami rallied for a run and loaded the bases against Sean Hjelle and Taylor Rogers in the bottom of the 11th, eventually getting MLB batting leader Luis Arraez to ground out softly for the final out.The win, their first of this five-game road trip, snapping ...Latest news
