It has been more than three years since the European Commission presented the Farm to Fork Strategy in the framework of its flagship European Green Deal. The much-lauded commitment to revise and expand the scope of the EU’s animal welfare legislation was integral to the Commission’s plan to achieve a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system.True enough, the world looks very different since President von der Leyen had her ‘man on the moon moment’. No-one could have predicted that a new coronavirus would rip through the fabric of global society, nor that Russia would invade Ukraine with all of its far-reaching consequences. Yet the need, which von der Leyen identified, to “reconcile the economy with our planet, to reconcile the way we produce and consume with our planet” has not changed. Indeed, it is more urgent than ever to, among other things, achieve a more sustainable food system.Improving the welfare of farm animals is fundamental to making our food syst...3 things we learned about the Chicago Bears, including Tyson Bagent’s preparation and Cody Whitehair’s reboot efforts

But I want to let you know I know the whole call sheet so don’t be afraid to do your thing and call your plays. The foreign ministers of Russia and North Korea met Thursday in Pyongyang for talks expected to focus on how to boost their military ties, days after the United States accused the North of sending fresh shipments of munitions to Russia to support its war efforts in Ukraine.Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov flew to Pyongyang on Wednesday for a two-day trip. During a reception speech later in the day, Lavrov said he thanked North Korea for its strong support for Russia’s war on Ukraine. The focus of outside attention to Lavrov’s visit is whether the two countries would provide any hints of how they would solidify their security cooperation or announce the timing for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s promised trip to Pyongyang to reciprocate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s visit to Russia’s Far East last month.During his travel to Russia, Kim met Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Russia’s most important domestic space launch center, and inspected other key Russian weapons-makin...Failed referendum on Indigenous rights sets back Australian government plans to become a republic

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — Australia’s failed referendum on the Indigenous Voice has set back the government’s plans to cut the nation’s constitutional ties to Britain’s King Charles III, a minister said Thursday. Australians last week overwhelmingly rejected the referendum that would have enshrined in the constitution an Indigenous advisory body to Parliament. The loss reduced the chances of another referendum soon to make the country a republic with an Australian president as head of state instead of the British monarch, Assistant Minister for the Republic Matt Thistlethwaite said.“In my view, it’s not off, but it does certainly make it a lot harder,” Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia.“Australians are reluctant to look at further referendums in the short term,” he added.Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made the Voice referendum a top priority for his center-left Labor Party government’s first three-year term when it was elected last year.Albanese placed Thistlethwaite in charg...Extremely rare brain cyst prevents outflow of spinal fluid from your brain
