Officials with Prince George’s County Public Schools say some data stolen in a ransomware attack earlier this month could be posted online — and the Maryland school system will now be offering credit monitoring and identity-theft protection services.“We have worked diligently to restore our systems to operability as quickly as possible, and we are investigating the incident with outside cybersecurity and forensic specialists. However, we have learned that some personal information may be released online by those responsible for the cyber attack,” new Prince George’s County Public Schools Superintendent Millard House said in a message to the school community members on Saturday.School officials said the system still does not know the full extent of the material that has been potentially compromised.House’s message said the stolen data includes “identification details,” but other than that, “we do not yet know the full extent of the info...Victor Kiplangat of Uganda pulls away late to win men’s marathon on last day at worlds

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Victor Kiplangat of Uganda executed his game plan to near perfection, pulling away late in the race to win the men’s marathon Sunday on the last day of world championships.Kiplangat finished in a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, 53 seconds to edge Maru Teferi of Israel by 19 seconds. Leul Gebresilase of Ethiopia took home bronze on a hot day where the temperature at the end soared to 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit). “It was hard today because it was so hot but I felt comfortable because I prepared well for this weather,” the 23-year-old Kiplangat said. “I always felt I had the power.”The heat and humidity led to 24 runners not finishing a race that ended in Heroes’ Square, including defending champion Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia. He said he dealt with stomach issues.“I was trying my best. I was feeling good until 30 kilometers,” he explained. “After that, I started to have a bad feeling in my stomach.”The top American finisher was Zach Panning...Tracking Tropical Depression Ten

A new tropical cyclone formed in the Atlantic basin on Saturday, known as Tropical Depression Ten, and this system could have some big impacts on parts of Florida by midweek. For us in South Florida, we will feel some impacts from the system but it is currently forecast to be far enough to our west to experience fringe impacts. Before then, expect a mix of sun and clouds this Sunday with scattered showers and thunderstorms as a small area of low pressure moves onshore to the east coast. There will be a light breeze at times along with high temperatures into the low to mid 90s.Beginning Monday, our pattern will become influenced under TD Ten, which will likely be Tropical Storm Idalia by this time period. Winds will shift out of the south and that will do two things: increase moisture levels and temperatures. Winds will maintain this southerly component most of this week, meaning a hot week is ahead for us in South Florida with highs hovering into the mid 90s.This will also be paired ...UK’s Dorries formally resigns as MP with blistering attack on Sunak

Tory stalwart and Boris Johnson loyalist Nadine Dorries announced her resignation from the U.K. House of Commons on Sunday “with immediate effect” while simultaneously attacking Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, whom she accused of abandoning “the fundamental principles of Conservatism.”The Treasury confirmed that it had been notified of the Mid Bedfordshire MP’s decision to formally step down; Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to appoint Dorries to the historical position of Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern next week, allowing the Tories to call a by-election.Dorries first announced her intention to quit in June, but after she was left off Johnson’s honors list and not given a seat in the House of Lords, she opted to remain in the Commons. In recent weeks calls had grown for her to quit, and the Liberal Democrats were set to put forward a bill for her suspension when parliament reconvenes on September 4.The MP pre-empted that move...Endangered Grevy’s zebra born at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago

(CNN) — A zoo in Chicago recently welcomed a stripey new addition to its family.A 16-year-old Grevy’s zebra named Adia gave birth to a “strong, female foal” at the Lincoln Park Zoo on August 21, according to a news release. The yet-unnamed baby zebra is Adia’s fifth offspring and the third with the foal’s father, Wester, zoo officials said. Her birth brought the zoo’s total population of endangered Grevy’s zebras up to four. The newborn and her mother are doing well and veterinary staff members will continue to monitor them, according to the zoo.“The birth of an animal is always cause for celebration here at Lincoln Park Zoo,” spokesperson Anna Cieslik told CNN in an email. “We’ve been lucky enough to welcome multiple Grevy’s zebra foals in recent years, and we’re excited to play a part in the continued growth of this endangered species’ population.”There are fewer than 2,000 Grevy’s zebras remaining in the wild as hunting and habitat loss have affected their population, acco...The Orioles couldn’t have prevented Félix Bautista’s injury. Back in May, Orioles bench coach Fredi González briefly filled in for Brandon Hyde, expressing gratitude Baltimore’s manager left him with top bullpen arms Félix Bautista and Yennier Cano available for his one day in change. But reflecting on his days managing an Atlanta Braves bullpen with backend relievers Eric O’Flaherty, Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel — “O’Vembrel,” as he recalled — and their ability to effectively shorten a game by three innings, González noted Baltimore was operating a bit short.“I think we need one more guy,” González said. The Orioles never got one, and three months later, they’re down two. Bautista, Baltimore’s hulking All-Star closer fittingly known as “The Mountain,” will miss the foreseeable future with an injury to his ulnar collateral ligament, tears of which typically result in Tommy John elbow reconstruction. If that procedure proves necessary, Bautista l...Patriots’ eight most difficult decisions on 53-man roster cutdown day

It said the company, which it did not name, had access to names, ranks, photos, vetting levels and payroll numbers for officers and staff, but did not hold personal information such as addresses, phone numbers or financial details. The force said it was “working with the company to understand if there has been any security breach relating to Metropolitan Police data,” and had referred the incident to the National Crime Agency. The Metropolitan Police Federation, a staff association for officers, said the breach had caused “incredible concern and anger.”“This is a staggering security breach that should never have happened,” said federation Vice Chair Rick Prior. “Given the roles we ask our colleagues to undertake, sign...Denis LePage, co-founder of Montreal disco powerhouse duo Lime, dies at 74
