ST. LOUIS – When tree crews got to work in the 2800 block of Victor Street in Fox Park on March 22, neighbors didn't think the leftover limbs and scrapped stumps would still be there three weeks later."This stuff has been sitting here, it's been collecting trash. It's making a mess," Amanda Izzo said."I have a teenager. Sometimes she struggles to find a parking spot on the street,” neighbor Simon Yost said. “I think it would be good if at some point here we could move on with our lives."Izzo said it’s not just there street, but surrounding blocks as well.“There are trees piled up everywhere," she said.Sure enough, when we hiked through Hawthorne and rode down Russell, we saw more piles of tree debris. But none of the wooden waste we witnessed compared to the volume on Victor. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A new legal battle is brewing over recreational marijuana in Missouri. The issue is tax "stacking." County leaders in the St. Louis area want to stack the 3% local sales taxes that voters approved last week.Berkeley voters approved a 3% marijuana sales tax, as did voters countywide in St. Louis County. The 3% local marijuana tax propositions passed almost everywhere; they were on the ballot last week by 3-to-1 margins, if not more.County leaders take that to mean counties that passed the tax can stack their 3% on top of a city’s 3%. They want their cut. Top Story: PETA protests outside St. Louis Budweiser brewery “You can indeed stack them. It’s been verified and discussed legally throughout,” said Tim Brinker, Franklin County’s presiding commissioner. “It’s absolutely allowable to stack.”St. Louis County and St. Charles County also reportedly plan to stack county and municipal recreational marijuana sales taxes, meaning the 3% rate voters approved will be ...Apartment development in St. Charles County getting push back

By NOAH TRISTERBALTIMORE — Chad Smith’s first major league win came courtesy of a rarely applied official scoring rule.It was an unusual twist at the end of a long day for the Oakland reliever.Smith pitched the final two innings of the Athletics’ 8-4 victory over Baltimore on Wednesday night, holding the Orioles scoreless and allowing only one hit. He entered in the bottom of the eighth, after the A’s had scored three runs in the top of the inning to take a 7-4 advantage. That meant reliever Jeurys Familia — who pitched the bottom of the seventh and was in the game when Oakland took the lead for good — could have been the pitcher of record. But the official scorer chose not to give Familia the win because he was deemed to have had a short, ineffective outing.Familia came on with one out in the seventh, a man on first and Oakland up 4-2. After a passed ball, pinch-hitter Cedric Mullins rolled an RBI single to right, and after a groundout moved Mullins to second, Adley Rutschman hit an...SF Giants’ Michael Conforto exits early from series finale vs. Dodgers

SAN FRANCISCO — Before the top of the fourth Wednesday night against the Dodgers, Giants manager Gabe Kapler conferred with home plate umpire Alex Tosi. It was too early for a defensive substitution, and there were no pinch-hitters from the previous inning to re-arrange in the field. But Kapler had an unexpected change to make: outfielder Michael Conforto was taken out of the game after three innings. The Giants later announced that it was left calf tightness that forced Conforto from the game. He was replaced by Bryce Johnson, but an inning later, Johnson had left the game, too.In the span of an inning, the Giants doubled their number of injured outfielders, as Johnson almost immediately put his body on the line with a leaping catch sure to land on highlight reels but that also forced him out of the game. After crashing into the center field wall and being replaced by LaMonte Wade Jr., Johnson was being evaluated for a concussion, the club announced.CATCH OF THE YEAR pic.twitter.co...7-year-old boy reunited with bike stolen on his birthday: Livermore PD
