Stillwater schools explore bond referendum, replacing Lake Elmo and Bayport buildings With more than 1,000 students expected to enter Stillwater Area Public Schools in the next 10 years, school officials are considering a possible bond referendum in the fall to add capacity at the elementary and middle school levels and address issues in buildings that are more than 100 years old.That could mean major changes at schools in the central and southern part of the district, where most of the growth is occurring.Schools that are already near capacity and are projected to be over capacity in the coming years include: Afton-Lakeland Elementary in Lakeland; Andersen Elementary in Bayport, and Lake Elmo Elementary and Oak-Land Middle School in Lake Elmo.“We are very early in this conversation,” said Carissa Keister, district spokeswoman. “We’re going to spend the next several months talking to our community to problem solve what are some potential solutions and opportunities.”A recent demographic study showed most of the growth will come from communities like Baytown Township,...

Altercation inside Creve Coeur store leads to parking lot shooting ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Creve Coeur man has been charged for allegedly firing shots at a car outside the store where he worked.According to a spokesperson for the Creve Coeur Police Department, the shooting took place at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the CVS in the 11500 block of Olive Boulevard.Witnesses told police a CVS employee got into an altercation with a person inside the store. This individual assaulted the employee, then left the store and got into a vehicle. Armed man shot, killed by Oxnard police during unrelated DUI investigation A man was shot and killed by police in Oxnard Sunday morning after he allegedly rushed at officers who were conducting an unrelated DUI investigation.The Oxnard Police Department said three officers were conducting the DUI investigation in the 100 block of West Fourth Street in Oxnard around 6 a.m., when the suspect, who was not involved in the traffic stop, ran towards them armed with a five-foot steel bar. Police said the 60-year-old man “abruptly ran towards the officers” in an apparent attempt to attack them. Despite the officers giving verbal commands to stop and put the bar down, the man continued toward the officers while wielding the steel bar “in a threatening manner”, according to the Oxnard Police Department. Two of the officers then pulled out their tasers, while one drew his weapon, and when the armed suspect got within a few feet of the officers, officers opened fire. Police rendered aid until paramedics arrived and transported the man to a local hospital. (KRON) -- The Pajaro Levee near Santa Cruz breached around midnight Saturday after the most recent atmospheric river began dumping rain in the area, according to the County of Monterey. Gov. Newsom works with federal government after fall of Silicon Valley Bank A mandatory evacuation has been in place for the community of Pajaro since the levee breached. When the breach happened, the Monterey County Water Resources Agency and the California Department of Water Resources were both at the site working on flood prevention at the levee. The levee is upstream from the small community of Pajaro, and an evacuation order was issued that impacted more than 8,000 residents. Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, North Monterey County Fire, and CAL FIRE all participated in door-to-door evacuation efforts starting as early as Friday.
