There is no COVID anymore.’ She was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do that. Let’s just have fun.’ Here we are with the trophy. It’s crazy.”Hsieh has now won the women’s doubles title the last three times she played at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament — she also teamed up with Mertens to lift the trophy in 2021. AUSTIN (KXAN) — With heat advisories in effect throughout Central Texas, it's not just residents who are feeling the heat — area wildlife are as well. The Austin Wildlife Rescue (AWR) said July and August are traditionally the busiest times of year for the organization, particularly with the summer months coinciding with baby season. But as elevated temperatures and humidity levels persist, AWR staff said wildlife dehydration has been a significant concern."It's hot enough on a regular summer just for us as staff to be able to go out and care for the animals, because we have a lot of outdoor caging that we give to the different species so that they can acclimate to the climate," said Jules Maron, AWR's operations manager. With baby season in full swing, Maron said AWR is receiving a lot more critical calls regarding orphaned babies in the heat. Typically, AWR recommends callers place the baby in a shaded place and wait for the mom to return in a couple of hours; but with this intense ...1 transported with serious injuries after single-vehicle collision in northeast Austin

OAKLAND, Calif. — Heading into their series finale at Oakland Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, the Twins had 107 pinch-hit plate appearances, second to Detroit’s 110. Their 99 at-bats led baseball, and were just five fewer than last year’s total of 104.Twins pinch-hitters have provided some big moments this season, but overall it’s been, by MLB standards, a middling performance.“We’d probably like to get better results out of it, but we’re just trying to get the guys up there that match up best at certain points of the game,” manager Rocc Baldelli said. “I wouldn’t call it great, but I think it’s something that makes sense and we’re going to keep doing it.”Joey Gallo and Edouard Julien have two of the Twins three pinch-hit home runs this season, both of them game-winners, and Julien hit a go-ahead double in Friday’s 5-4 victory over Oakland.Julien is 2 for 8 as a pinch hitter this season but that’s six total bases and two go-ahead RBIs — not bad for a guy that had never done it before ...Wild sign winger Brandon Duhaime to 1-year, $1.1 million contract

After filing for salary arbitration last week, winger Brandon Duhaime agreed to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract with the Wild on Sunday. This was the expected outcome despite the fact that the 26-year-old Duhaime filed for salary arbitration. Most players leaguewide come to a resolution with their respective team before an independent arbitrator has to get involved. The structure of the new deal means Duhaime will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. He’s coming off the best performance of his career last season during which he posted 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) across 51 games.Though he’s likely to fill a role in the bottom half of the lineup next season, Duhaime is a candidate to move up into the top of the lineup. He might be the fastest player on the Wild roster and he’s equipped with a sneaky good shot.It has been an offseason predicated on patience for Wild general manager Bill Guerin. He’s still waiting on the top priority of figuring out a deal with goaltender Filip Gu...Latest news
