A Venice woman is warning others about a man who was convicted of stalking her but has been released from prison and she believes he is back in her neighborhood.Talia Landman called the man "unhinged and violent" and said she’s been living a nightmare.She told KTLA she and neighbors have called police hundreds of times on David F. Kroll, who apparently is homeless and at one point lived in a nearby alley. Talia Landman’s videos have gone viral on TikTok. But it’s the type of attention and subject matter she would rather avoid, the frustration clear in her voice.California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation records obtained by KTLA show Kroll was sentenced to three years in prison for vandalism and assault in 2018. A high school in Orange County was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after it was reported that one of the students had a gun, authorities announced. Officers with the Santa Ana Police Department responded to NOVA Academy Early College High School, located at 500 W. Santa Ana Blvd., just before 1 p.m. on reports of “a possible active shooter,” according to an SAPD news release. With the help of school officials, police evacuated all the students and school personnel while officers checked the school. KTLA's Chip Yost learned that a male student brought a toy from home and showed it to another student. A third student witnessed the interaction and reported it to the teacher, who then advised the NOVA Academy’s principal, which prompted the lockdown. “The appropriate safety measures were taken by both our Officers and NOVA Academy staff to ensure everyone’s safety,” the release stated. SAN JOSE – Police on Thursday announced the arrests of a 19-year-old man and a juvenile in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this summer near downtown San Jose.The shooting was reported around 8:50 p.m. on July 8 near East William and South 10th streets. Officers arrived to find a man and a teen boy suffering from gunshot wounds.The victims were taken to a hospital, the boy with life-threatening injuries and the man with injuries that were not considered life threatening. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.The death marked the 21st homicide of the year in the city.Detectives identified Rodolfo Stagi, 19, of San Jose, and a juvenile as suspects in the case and obtained warrants for their arrest, according to Officer Steve Aponte of the San Jose Police Department. It depicts a placid woodland scene in shades of gold and blue, painted with Ross’ preferred “wet on wet” technique, with deceptively complex-looking brushstrokes and, of course, an abundance of happy little trees. DUBLIN — Just 17 hours after being booked into Santa Rita Jail for a misdemeanor vandalism arrest, an Oakland man allegedly killed his cellmate, police say.Bryson Levy, 33, killed Yuri Brand, 39, of El Cerrito, inside the jail cell they shared, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Police have not released the suspected motive, nor a cause of death.Brand had only been in the jail a few days when he was killed. He was charged on Sept. 11 with breaking into a Piedmont home, spending two days there and consuming $1,000 worth of food and beverages, KTVU reported.Brand’s family told KTVU that he had schizophrenia after suffering a head injury.The circumstances of Levy’s underlying arrest weren’t immediately available.
