Tesla is roaring back from a dismal 2022 as company shares, which have already doubled this year, were driven higher Monday by a spike in second-quarter deliveries. Shares jumped 7% to a new high for 2023 after the electric car maker said its deliveries in the most recent quarter rose 83% compared with the same period last year. Tesla cut prices several times on its four electric vehicle models and buyers took advantage of U.S. government tax credits.Tesla was pummeled in 2022, pushing shares down nearly 70%. Shares were in decline for most of the year and went into a near freefall after Tesla CEO Elon Musk acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal. Musk’s takeover at Twitter has been anything but smooth and a myriad of issues have continued to turn off users and advertisers. Musk on Friday said the company would limit the number of tweets users could see in a day, angering users and most certainly not winning over advertisers who rely on views when paying for advertising on the ...Flyers sign defenseman Marc Staal to a 1-year deal while the Leafs add Max Domi

Marc Staal is joining the Philadelphia Flyers, signing a $1.1 million contract for next season with a team embarking on a lengthy rebuilding process.General manager Daniel Briere announced the signing Monday, following the Flyers’ deals over the weekend with gritty winger Garnet Hathaway and depth center Ryan Poehling. Hathaway got $4.75 million over two years and Poehling $1.4 million for one year. Staal is coming off helping the Florida Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Final. He skated nearly 21 minutes a night during that run after playing all 82 regular-season games and putting up 15 points. The 36-year-old fills a void expected to open when Philadelphia trades Tony DeAngelo back to Carolina. They tried to make that trade in recent weeks, but were prohibited by an NHL rule from doing so because it was less than a year since DeAngelo was dealt from the Hurricanes to the Flyers.July 7 would mark 12 months, after which the trade back could be completed. In 2020, travel was restricted by the pandemic, and many people could work from anywhere. For those who could afford it, a close-by second home on the Maryland and Delaware shores looked like a good investment for short-term rental income and as a work-from-anywhere remote option. As a result, inventory for sale in those vacation destinations, and others around the country, got extremely tight, sales began happening much more quickly and prices rose dramatically.Fast forward three years and the market has shifted. In May, listing service Bright MLS says almost one-third of homes that sold in the Mid-Atlantic were second-home and investment properties.“We saw some people who purchased second-homes or vacation homes during the pandemic, and thought they would be able to use it a lot because they were working from home,” said Lisa Sturtevant, chief economist at Bright MLS. “But now as more employers are calling people back to the office, they are taking the opportunity to lis...Clear Creek lifts water restrictions right before 4th of July

DENVER (KDVR) — After one month, Jefferson County has lifted the water restrictions on Clear Creek in Golden just in time for the Fourth of July. Effective at 10 a.m. Monday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the City of Golden made the decision to lift the restrictions that limited water activities on Clear Creek. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Monday the Wagner Group’s attempted rebellion failed because Russia’s army “showed loyalty to their oath and military duty,” marking the first time he has spoken out about the short-lived mutiny.“These plans failed primarily because the personnel of the Armed Forces showed loyalty to their oath and military duty,” Shoigu said in public remarks. “The provocation did not affect the actions of the groupings of troops.” Russia responded to the rebellion by tightening security measures in Moscow. In late June, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin planned to capture Russia’s military leadership as part of his surprise mutiny but turned back after Wagner forces made it to the capital city’s outer limits. Prior to the rebellion, Prigozhin accused Shoigu of ordering a rocket strike on Wagner’s field camps in Ukraine. The Defense Ministry denied carrying out the rocket attack.Shoigu also mentioned Russia’s response to the failed rebellion,...Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro dead at 19
